day 2: Flores

Day 2 started with another flight, this time we flew from Denpasar(Bali) to Labuan Bajo(Flores). We had to get up at 4, and the lack of sleep was really killing me. When we arrived at the airport, I found out that I was about to experience my first flight in a propeller plane, how exciting. The plane was small, because of the really small "airport" (I can barely call it an airport, it was no more than a small strip of asphalt) in Labuan Bajo.
While driving to the hotel, I realized how different Flores is from Bali. The island is not crowded with tourists, and people have less than the people on Bali. However, the people here are the most friendly people I've ever met. We were welcomed with so much kindness, that I felt right at home in yet another hotel. We did not do much today, except for resting and having a really good time. When we went out for lunch, we decided to take a taxi to a nice restaurant, and this was also an amazing experience. The taxi was no more than an open van, where we could sit in the back.
For dinner we met again with Sandi. After dinner, I met a really nice German girl, and had a very long and interesting talk with her. She really made me enthusiastic for scuba diving, so who knows what I'll be doing next week. I also had my first Indonesian cocktails, which tasted really really good! However, tomorrow we are going to the primary school of Gorontalo, to volunteer. Soooo excited! Good night everyone and selamat tidur! X
